After years of traveling the back roads of southwest Missouri as a home health physical therapist, I’ve stepped into a new season filled with quiet discovery, creative pursuits, and healing.
Photography has opened my eyes to nature and wildlife in fresh, intimate ways. I’ve marveled at the spiraled precision of sunflower florets, noticed the subtle variations of blue in a bluejay’s plumage, and paused to catch the soft golden light of dawn warming a female mallard and her ducklings. It’s in these moments that I find design, beauty, and peace.
Writing has become a pathway through grief and growth. As I learn from the flora and fauna around me, my spiritual faith in God deepens. Blending photography with writing has become a powerful outlet for reflection and expression.
Reading has been a lifelong joy. As a volunteer reading tutor, I’ve had the privilege of sharing that joy with children as they unlock the magic of language and step into the wonder of sky islands, the ocean depths, and wild horses that live on sunny ocean beaches. I’ve come to believe that the key to literacy lies in discovering stories that are not only delightful and captivating but that speak to a child’s unique interests and imagination.
On January 23, 2023, I published a children’s picture book, Zip: An Eastern Chipmunk. It’s a blend of photography, storytelling, and personal healing that reflects my journey and the joy I’ve found along the way.
My next endeavor is to bring all of this together in a renewed website, one that celebrates the quiet marvels of the natural world through photography, storytelling, and reflection. It’s a space where I hope to share not only what I see, but what I learn: about resilience, design, faith, and the small wonders tucked into every corner of creation. Whether you’re here for inspiration, curiosity, or a moment of stillness, welcome!
